a while back, i found this article on how to steal like an artist. seeing as how the world is supposed to end today, i thought i would try to be clever with my post title. but seriously, read the article, it's really good!

castle

today's "themed thursday" theme is "castle." i'm getting back into drawing, and i'm getting to know my Uniball needle point a bit better. we didn't get along during some of the shading.

i haven't posted in a long time, because i've been busy wrapping up my senior project and graduating! my final project, "What Remains," won best in category at the DMA showcase at HU! we will be submitting it to some festivals, so it can't go online yet.

also, expect some "i'm graduated and entering the workforce" type posts, including a link that i had shared on diaspora but don't have the motivation to hunt down at the moment. posting soon!

i made this poster all in one sitting out of desperation to have something up to delineate my stuff in the senior gallery next week. i really like how it turned out, and i think it's better than my other recent illustration project.

i cleaned up the line art and painted in Photoshop.

i am in a class where we are making an alphabet book, with different artists assigned letters. the book is full of robots, which create the shape of the letter and are doing things that start with that letter.

this is a "buster bot blasting a bazooka."

i created the pose in Photoshop, but i got really bogged down by the digital process. i traced the pose onto paper and drew this line art with a mechanical pencil.

now hear this...

i am back to drawing! didn't spend much time on this, but after taking the weekend off, i just wanted to get something online.

i have tried this style before, but this time it ended up looking appealing, which is good!

also, tried to try a halo outline technique.

theme: "Champion"

this is a champion from the game "League of Legends." i usually play as him. his name is Renekton.

i usually draw super clean, so this is my attempt to get away from that more. it really helped me get down a character that i'm not used to drawing, and allowed me to leave out some details that i don't know. plus, it made hashing out the pose more fun. i did use Photoshop's liquify tool to modify the pose slightly.

Egypt: Horus

today is Themed-Thursday, and this week's theme is Egypt. so, i drew the king of the Egyptian gods, Horus.

cereal

i am going to cheat again and post something that i didn't make today. this is something i've been working on for a design class the past three weeks, and it was finished yesterday afternoon. it's really really big, because we are having posters printed.

the cereal is actually a CC licensed picture of a slice of bread, and the bowl is also a CC licensed picture. i created the font for the word "Krispies" by hand with the pen tool in Photoshop.

comic for the paper

i actually drew this last night. i am very aware this is cheating. watch me not care!

i do an opinion comic for the school paper, which results in very little money and a whole lot of controversy. which is kinda fun.

backstory is this: a few years ago, the dining commons (or DC) stopped providing trays for students in order to save money on water and wasted food.

this year, a shiny new television appeared above the dirty dishes belt, courtesy of Student Senate. some thought that this was a misappropriation of funds, and many students had strong feelings about it.

last night, i saw that the screen was cracked. i came back to my room, drew this, and submitted it to the paper. it will be in the next issue.
